THE ECO BLOCKUC Berkeley Professor Presents Radical Green Urban Planning Idea at Traditional urban development has depended on a centralized infrastructure system - power plants, water treatment plants, sewage, waste removal, and highways. Prof. Harrison Fraker, Dean of Environmental Design Engineering at UC Berkeley, demonstrates a revolutionary new idea of "EcoBlocks", a circular, micro utility ecosystem that generates energy, processes waste and recycles water onsite. With support from Siemens and Cisco, two EcoBlock prototypes are being initiated for comparative purposes, one in Tianjin, China as part of its Eco-City development, and the other in Mountain View, California. |
